#StopKillingCyclists Vigil & DieIn: Westminster City Hall Mon 2 Mar 5p Re: crash involving HGV driver & cyclist http://stopthekilling.org.uk/direct-actions/vigil-and-die-in-victoria-street-westminster
What is this about?
Report from Evening Standard:
Claire Hitier-Abadie, 36, collided with the construction vehicle as it turned left from Bressenden Place into Victoria Street before 8am yesterday.
She was the fourth cyclist to be killed in London this year – all in HGV crashes. Campaigners are planning a protest “die-in” to highlight calls for improved road safety.
Further media reports are at Stop Killing Cyclists: CLICK HERE.
We are VERY ANGRY that this is the fourth death in almost as many weeks of people riding bikes in London in 2015, and so we are going to have a pre Vigil and Die In PROTEST and DIE IN outside Westminster Council.
We will gather from 5pm outside Westminster City Hall – 64 Victoria Street – for a PROTEST at 5.30, the plan being that staff leaving the Council offices will see us. We will have speakers, etc and ask people to bring candles and placards, and hopefully this will include Westminster Living Streets, as Westminster is an awful borough for pedestrians and cyclists.
We will then continue with the Vigil and Die In to remember Claire, with people who are not able to join us earlier, at 6.30pm
Please let us know if you will be leading a cycle ride (from where at what time).
- Led by Nic Fripp (look for a tall bloke with yellow hi-viz and a grey & white beanie)
- Departs from Town Square (by the library) at 5pm prompt
